Marissa Bellino

Marissa Bellino is a teacher at the High School for Environmental Studies. She become a teacher through the New York City Teaching Fellows, a program dedicated to placing individuals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds into New York City public schools.
Prior to this program, Marissa received her Bachelor of Science from James Madison University in Virginia, majoring in Biology and Geography. She continued her education at Boston University where she received her Masters in Environmental and Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. Not being fully satisfied behind a computer, she decided to move to New York City and pursue a new career, teaching. Here she was able to combine many of her interests and find her true passion as an educator.
During her first two years of teaching she also attended City College of New York where she received her Masters of Education in Secondary Science.
Marissa is a faculty advisor for the Youth Environmental Stewards Club, a group that focuses on recycling, composing, and environmental outreach in the school. She coaches the girls' soccer team and assists with the school drama department. She has spent the past two summers working with The Nature Conservancy, bringing students from HSES to The Nature Conservancy lands and exposing them to career opportunities in conservation. In 2008, Marissa was invited to Japan, along with six students, to participate in an environmental youth conference hosted by Toshiba International Foundation.
