Miss Ophelia's Story

Miss Ophelia is in her 70's and she has had 2 major strokes, the second one in March which has slurred her speach significantly. She lives with her disabled son, Eddie, who is in constant pain and needs a hip replacement. He recently had his last two teeth extracted to avoid infection when he has his hip replacement. His body is broken and riddled with pain.

Miss Ophelia and Eddie were in their home during Katrina. The ceiling of their home collapsed and fell down around them. Then, the water came in. Miraculously, they are both okay. They are finally back into their home after spending many months in their FEMA trailer.

How You Can Help

The Disaster Corp has helped Ophelia and Eddie rebuild their home but they are still in dire need of having their ceiling refinished, kitchen cabinets (their old ones are still in the house but rotted and completely moldy), beds and mattresses, a chest of drawers, table and chairs, and a lamp. Please give what you can.
