Hancock County Library's Story After the storm, only one library was left standing in the entire county. Now, even as donations of books are coming in, the libraries face the dilemma of storing the volumes before another storm threatens to ruin them. Join us to help foster a new generation of writers in the South. The libraries are the epicenters of the towns. They are one of the few places that people can get access to the internet to check the status of their FEMA applications and their insurance claims. In the Bay St Louis Library there are now 24 computers which are constantly in use. How You Can Help The libraries need money for flooring, rugs, crates for storing books, shelving, and office supplies such as printer cartridges so that people can print their FEMA and insurance paperwork. While they are in need of books, they have requested that no books be donated until they have enough funds for structural improvements, as they currently do not have the facilities to store additional books and are worried that they would lose them if another storm were to hit the area. |
